The 3rd mechanic v.03

There were 3 friends who worked together in a workshop, they were passionate mechanics and worked together to fix vehicles, bikes, and boats. When they were not working they were making stuffs, things that are interesting, funny, not always useful but sometimes is.

The 3 came from different races, 2 races are dominant and the 3rd one from a minority race that exists amongst many minority races in that region. One day a group of the first race went after and destroyed a whole second races' neighborhood they looted and burned all of the buildings and after hours left behind rubbles as if that place had a massive natural disaster. The community left living in emergency tents and eating and drinking out of donations.

Sometime in the year a group of pedestrian of the first race were massacred by an unknown driver who later was known to be of the second race.

The 3 started off not affected by the strife they are friends no matter what. However news came that the first mechanic turned out to be one whose brother was the initiator of the looting and pillaging, one of the main provocateur of the event and had used their workshop's tools to create flamethrowers and battering rams. The second mechanic's family turned out to be a long time generational servant of the leader of the gang who ordered for the massacre. From then on their friendship ended

The 3rd mechanic found himself unwilling to go through the hassle of visiting them at different times, seeing each of them straying further and further from their characters and becoming more and more adopting of their gang's principals. At one morning he walked to the shops, and then he kept on walking, and walking, and walking.

He walked and stayed the night at a town and then kept on walking on to another. One time he saw a kid, of the first race, had his bike broken and is desperately trying to fix it. He helped fixing it... successful, made it even better than before. The kid smiled in gratitude, but as he biked towards his friends the mechanic was emotionally disturbed, the group that he was coming towards were the kind of groups that looked like to him very much one of those people. Or was it just his imagination?

The next day he walked towards a village where he found a group of kids bored and had nothing else to do, these guys reminded him of his past since they were of the first race, second race, and some multiple other ethnicities together. He squatted down and with some sticks and stones he tought them how to make a vehicular toy and to race them for fun. All of them loved the game and called their other friends to play together. But upon seeing this he grew a little bit of wrath in his heart, he then told them not to waste their knowledge to those who'd just going to ruin them. Then he left.

An old lady was seen trying to fix her destroyed cart, seemed like she had been robbed. The mechanic immidiately came to her help and skillfully fixed the cart, made it even better using only materials found around them, scattered pieces of stuffs on the ground. The old lady was astonished with his skill however while he was working the lady came to his help and surprisingly managed to do a thing or two to make it better as well.

They both chatted while working and after working, she offered him some food and he was very grateful for it, indeed he hasn't been eating for almost a day.

After they went on their separate ways he saw another guy who is trying to fix a cart. He wanted to helped him but hesitant looking at him seemed to be one of "those people". However the guy striked a conversation with him and he couldn't but to answer. He was sloppy in his work but eventually he managed to do a thing or two without help. The mechanic praised him for his work multiple times, and in the end he went on his way without doing anything, other than the encouragements. To say the things that were left unsaid though, both seemed to had realized that even those encouragements, were packing some huge punch for the process.

At night he slept on the grassland and looked at the bright starry sky. That night he was thinking to himself;

"Wasn't I wrong in advicing those kids to be suspicious of people in terms of skill sharing? Isn't the answer, the other way around?"

"Had the people knew what's what and where's where, wouldn't they going to be able to see it coming from far away beforehand?"

He left the question unanswered and closed his eyes to sleep
